You Are Right…

…what am I doing here? I miss the old time I had with you. It was so sweet, so much fun, and most important of all, unforgettable.

The Second Stage of Life

In my own explanation, the second stage of life begins on the day you introducing another person permanently (at least it is the initial intention) into your life. I am talking about marriage.

My August ended with attending Sophie’s surprise bridal shower. Not sure if my showing-up was the biggest surprise for her, but I am definitely the one (among all) whom she hasn’t seen for the longest time! It is so nice to see people settling down for a brighter future, namely getting married, having babies, moving into new houses, and etc. it also makes me wonder what everything will be like when it comes to my turn.

Having seen and heard so much about married life and life after having babies, it makes me even more firmly believed that I will never be a housewife or a stay-home mom! Not that I have any grudge against them, it is just not the type of lifestyle I would prefer.

Out of randomness, I asked mom testingly on Sunday, about when will my sister have her wedding, since she and Eric have been dating steadily for quite a while now. Mom said, I will have to go first, then my brother, and lastly my sister. I was surprised that this kind of old tradition is rooted in her values. She is not that much of a “hip mom” as I thought after all. Knowing of her preference adds more pressure on top of hundreds of other things (okay, I am exaggerating), but I am afraid she will have to exclude Ben and I from her plan, since we are just not fundamentally ready yet.

August Olympics

This is regarding the age controversy over China’s gold medal gymnasts.

I am a United States citizen and am of Taiwanese/Chinese ethnicity. I am not on either side and am happy to see either country win the gold. But seriously, U.S. sports writers need to shut up and stop expressing sour grapes in their columns. It should fall on the FIG and IOC’s plate, and they are the ones to blamed if they do fail to investigate the problem and take responsibility. The last thing we want for the Americans to learn is being a sore loser!

On another note, “Golden Boy” Michael Phelps has been keeping me awake at night, so I can watch him break the records again and again. I can’t wait for the moment that he snatches all 8 gold medals! He is said to come back to Maryland after the game. I am plotting to chase him down!

My July Flies!

Okay…the laziness has to cease, and I need to get back on updating more frequently. I cannot believe it is almost mid-July, time flies! With all three campaigns up and running, work is crazy since the beginning of 2008. Everyday, it is like a battlefield at work, and I have to be 100% prepared, both mentally and physically.

Cwis came for the holiday weekend, but I had to work on July 4th for pretty much the whole day, therefore, we didn’t get to go anywhere or do anything festive. To make up our July 4th holiday, Ben arranged a one-day fun in D.C.! We first went to Old Ebbitt Grill for brunch. Its Victorian decor impressed me tremendously, except for I wouldn’t want a whole bunch of “hunting trophies” hanging up on every corner of my house.

Afterwards, we strolled around The White House and then cruised to Georgetown to get some yummy cakecups and gelato/sorbetto. In the evening, Ben took us to his favorite tapas restaurant called La Tasca, where he and Cwis finished a big pitcher of sangria and each of us had 3 plates of tapas! I had so much fun!

Before I know it, it will be August soon, and by then there will be more for Ben and I to look forward to. Every day is a brand new day and we need to live ourlives to the fullest!
