Sunny Seattle
So I am back from my trip to Seattle with Baobieboo last week. I had a lot of fun in Seattle! It is by far my second favorite city in the US, second to San Francisco, but that is under the condition that it was sunny pretty much the whole time during our stay. Even the locals told us we lucked out since a gorgeous weather like that doesn’t come too often.
I also had tons of yummy food. On this trip, it was all about trying new dishes for me. We ate at two of chef Tom Douglas’ restaurants, Etta’s and Lola. At Etta’s I tasted a corn beef sandwich for the very first time. I thought it was pretty good, considering I am not a fan of beef. And the chickpea fries at Lola made me want to go back for more!
It seems to me that life in Seattle is pretty chill, and people are very friendly. A lady paid $3 airport express bus fee for us because we didn’t have the exact change, and no one on the bus could break a $20. Another perk of living in Seattle is that dogs are welcomed in many places like department stores and more. I saw some people with their pets in Pacific Place!
We visited the Space Needle, which was a completely disappointment. CN Tower in Toronto is way better! We also took the water taxi to the Alki Beach and had the best (also the most expensive) brunch buffet at Salty’s. On Sunday, we took the Clipper cruise to Victoria B.C. for a one-day visit. It was so beautiful, but a bit too chill in my opinion. That place would work great for our retired parents, but not us. ![]()
Since the housing is more affordable in Seattle than in San Francisco (we have done our research). We definitely consider moving to Seattle in the future, but it is all contingent to the job market for Ben.
On a different note, I had a fun and relaxing Memorial Day weekend. We watched Indiana Jones Friday night, went shopping at the mall on Saturday, and went to the BBQ party at Karen’s abode on Monday.
Indiana Jones was just okay. It was nowhere compared to Ironman, and I just didn’t dig the whole idea about aliens. Speaking of movies, I can’t wait to see Sex and The City this Friday!
I think I am getting too old for mall shopping. I did bought a few things at the mall, but ended up calling it a day early and going home to shop more online. I like online shopping because at the store, you have to physically flip through the clothes one by one and it is such a big hassle. So what I did was to try on a variety of garments, just to get a sense of what my true sizes are, and then went shopping for them online.
Yesterday at Karen’s, we had a good time with the group and the food was great. The kids all loved Benetton, so he received lots of TLC. He had so much fun playing fetch with the girls and running around in the yard with Echo, the hound-mix. No wonder he passed out on the floor as soon as we got home. Ben got pretty miserable later in the afternoon because of his allergy to Milo (the cat). I took Xyzal so I was spared from the pink eyes and running nose, but I still sneezed a lot.
It is Tuesday and I am back at work like everyone else, but there is a lot to look forward to! I am ready for SUMMER!
you know that it’s only sunny in the summer there right? otherwise it’s pretty depressing throughout the year IMO… only plus is that it’s close to Vancouver and Whistler.
Am I glad M is in Japan right now. I’d hate to think I’d have to go see SITC too.
